About

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWhile I was on my quest for a blog name, I first tried to describe myself using words that describe beer…hoppy, bold, strong, flavorful, vanilla (though I’m an amber right now), crispy, rich and moody 🙂 Can a beer be described as moody? Regardless, moody I am. And I don’t mean that in a negative context though we all have our moments. I am referring to moody about food and beer…the context of my blog. I enjoy trying new restaurants, foods, and beer and I want to share that with you! You may even find simple and fun recipes. Guten Appetit!

About me…I am a student. I love to travel. I want to go everywhere. I love music, chocolate, coffee, and of course BEER. My favorite season is fall. I love hoodies. I love the sound of leaves crunching beneath my feet…and cuddling by a fire. I love the smell of rain and clean clothes. I love sports and winning even more. I am competitive. I like playing card games. I care about people. I am open-minded. I enjoy arguing. I like people that are real. I love the library, I love the smell of old books. I love a bubble bath with a glass of wine and a good book. I love reading thrillers. Lisbeth Salander is my book heroine. I love solving problems (I am an engineer). I love to journal and oh, have I mentioned I love to talk about my favorite foods and beer? I could go on and on but let’s blog.

  1. I’d never read your ‘about’…. I should’ve read it earlier! I’m very much like you, except for two things; 1. I don’t like cards 2. I pretty much hate sports…. But I sure like beer, the sound of fall leaves crunching under foot and I really, really like cuddles. ; o )

  2. Hey, Lilly Sue!

Any interest in contributing a writing process blog post in the next couple of weeks?

Nell from I Need a Feed approached me a few weeks ago to write a blog post about my writing process for my food blog. Part of the post is extending the invitation to three other bloggers who would, in turn, post about their writing process.

Here’s the info she sent along to me about it:

Step 1: Acknowledge the person and the site that involved you in the blog tour. My blog is http://ineedafeed.wordpress.com
Step 2: Answer the 4 questions below about your writing process.

    1. What are you working on?
    2. How does your work differ from others of its genre?
    3. Why do you write what you do?
    4. How does your writing process work?

Step 3: Say who your three choices of bloggers are, and give a brief bio and link to the website of each of them. Their (Your) date for posting will be a week from the date I post.

I’m a little behind schedule but am hoping to share my post next week (by Wednesday). That would give you a week to put together a post and extend the invite to bloggers you admire. 🙂

    What do you think?

    • Hi! Sorry it has taken me a little while to get back to you. I am trying to focus on catching up on posts, as well as creating a new site so I do not really have time to do this currently 😦 But thank you so much for thinking of me! I really appreciate it.

  4. Thanks for taking the time and stopping by my blog! Autumn and a long bubble bath are two of my favourite things too but I’m not much of a drinker. In fact, I’m rather cheap: half a glass and I’m all red and giggly 😛

  5. Oh, you are super cool Lily Sue!! I love the ethos behind this blog… definitely agree that food and beer are a match made in heaven! If I was a beer I’d be…. hm… something summery and light? India Pale Ale, or one of the German wheat beers. Actually, I tend to change with the seasons, so I do think there’d be a few sips of dark stout in there 😉 Anyway, so glad that I found your blog. Quite excited indeed. Especially as you’re an engineer, as most of my engineer buddies just buy takeaway every night (with expensive wine, bwahahaha). Nice to meet you. I consider you an instant friend 😉

    • ha ha what kind of engineers are these!? They should appreciate beer! (Not surprised about the takeout food though) I very much appreciate food if you haven’t already noticed 🙂 I am no gourmet chef but I love cooking. I really loved finding your comment…you have really made my day…NO…week! I needed it 🙂 It is amazing how one person’s kind words can transform your day. Thanks so much. I am so very glad you found my blog, friend 🙂

  7. love your blog!!! can’t wait to see all the winning combinations of beer and food you share with us 🙂

  8. Thank you for stopping by Clicks & Corks and liking my dogwood flower image: much appreciated.
You have a very cool blog and I enjoyed reading how your portrayed yourself in your about page 🙂
Personally, I love a good beer, but given a chance I have to say I would go for a (good) glass of wine 🙂
    Take care!

  9. Awesome to meet you! you had me at your photo, actually you really had me at your name… love it! Thanks for dropping by my site… and agree, Lisbeth rocks! Never will we meet a woman like that again! I look forward to hearing about your crazy adventures.

  10. Greetings from Australia Lilly Sue,
Your short biography put a smile on my face; there seems to be an energetic non stop cute mouse running around in your little mind. You’re so passionate about life which is a great thing. You remind me of my adorable crazy “Scottish and Irish friends” overseas when I was living and working in the UK. All the best and keep smiling.
    God bless.

  11. Hi Lilly Sue, I’m really pleased you visited my blog, thank you 🙂 We have things in common the least of which is beer! I actually taste beer as part of my job description and contract, I work in the Quality Compliance department of a large brewery! I know you will fully appreciate, its good to fully savour the aroma, the taste and the satisfaction in comparing beers. Well done on engineering, I’ve heard its a tough discipline! Best wishes SN.

    • That sounds like an awesome job!! Lucky! Tasting beer for a living…ha ha. Which brewery do you work for?

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!! 🙂

      • Hello Lilly Sue, yes its a great job I enjoy it very much. I work for Inbev UK which is part of a huge collection of breweries worldwide, covering many beers.
Have a great 2013 and take care, SN.
P.S. I’d send you some free samples, if only I could!

    • Thank you Karista! That is so very kind of you to say 😀 Let’s see, I think they say that smiling as well as other emotions are contagious…I am glad it can even be seen through my writing 🙂

  13. Gotta love your beer and food combo. Speaking of which, … well … the beer part … not long ago I had my first glass of Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale … fabulous! Warning and tip: At 8.1%, it is strong … but drinking it too cold masks the bourbon.

PS: Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the world.

    • ha ha I totally got to try the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale when I was visiting my brother in Ohio (I posted about it ;)). It was delicious!! I just recently had another beer that was matured in whisky casks. i will be posting about it soon. It was strong as well 🙂

  14. Great pics here on your blog! The one of you in the dirt road reminds me of the places we’d have bonfires/parties in high school. Good memories! Not to creep you out, but you sound like the perfect match for my cousin in Golden, CO! 🙂

    • ha ha that dirt road is the road to one of my best friends (and neighbor) growing up…so many high school memories were there! Glad it sparked your memories as well 😀

      Not creeped out, lol. Thanks!

  15. Lisbeth is awesome! I also love the smell of old books (and new books!) Since you like thrillers (and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo books), have you read anything by Jo Nesbo?

  16. Thanks for following doll, loving your blog! Very unique! Looking forward to your beer updates, can’t beat an ice cold beer 😉 Avril xXx

    • Nice to “meet” you too! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I haven’t been to Maine and don’t know any beers from there…please share if there are some you like!

      • you may enjoy some of the names: mainebrewersguild-dot-org – there is a great number of interesting pubs – one in particular – the great lost bear in portland.

my favorite is ‘Longfellow Winter Ale – Shipyard Brewing Co. – Portland, ME ‘

      • oh, and i forgot to mention, ‘Three Dollar Deweys Ale House’ i love the name…

  17. I like you already! If only my 15-year old son was you age, I will “force” him to pursue you…lol. I think you will get along pretty well 🙂 He loves almost everything you said you love (except for beer coz he is still a minor and has not tasted beer but just wine-infused meal courtesy of his mother :D). Awesome blog you got!

  18. Your blog is what I strive for! I LOVE trying new places and like you said, of course new beers. I love food and I love to write about it. We should get together someday and maybe try out a new place. 🙂 Happy Blogging!

  19. SO much in common! Especially the old book thing, sometimes I wish people could give me a bouquet of old books instead of flowers.. haha weird? yes. Love your intro, something you don’t see on every blog-refreshing!

  20. You’ve been nominated for the One Lovely Blog award!

Here are the steps for the award:

Name the blogger who awarded you this fantastic award
List 7 random facts about yourself
Award 15 other bloggers this award
    Enjoy!

    • Omg! You are so kind 🙂 You don’t know how much I appreciate this award. I feel so honored! This weekend is a big weekend for me…graduating! So I will repost early next week.

This is my first award…I am assuming you try to nominate people that haven’t been nominated? Thank you so much!!

      • Hi! Happy Graduation! When you post for the award you can follow my template if you want. To be honest, when I got the award I wasn’t quite sure what to do so I had to Google the award :). I think that you are right about nominating people that haven’t been nominated. Enjoy!!

  21. And you said that *I* am adorable. Give me a break…YOU are the adorable one, absolutely! I love your blog name, by the way 🙂

    • ha ha thank you, thank you!! 🙂 I think Fork & Beans is quite hilarious…beans make many meals for me…beans and rice, bean burrito, garbanzo bean hummus, garbanzo beans in my salad…I am a poor college student so I appreciate beans! lol
