It is incredible that another year has already come and gone. This next year will bring many new adventures. I will (hopefully π ) be graduating with my Master’s in May. The following mission is typically getting a job but I have been aching to travel for far too long. Though I have no definite plans yet, I am sure that I will be out of the country for some time in 2014 and I am absolutely excited about it!
As far as my blog, I want to reflect on 2013. My New Year’s post from last year, Kiss, Kiss, discussed my goals of 2013…
“Bringing in the New Year I am looking to grow and expand as a food and beer blogger. I plan to dive deeper into food and beer pairings and even more excitingly, cooking and baking with beer. I am no expert in the area but I hope you will join me as I experiment more in the kitchen.”
The year seemed to fly by and as I began to write this post, I felt my goal had not been met. However, as I looked back, I realized that 12 different recipes were posted which translates to one per month: a success indeed! π The following is a compiled list of cooking/baking with beer recipes discovered in 2013:
Shrimp Pasta
White Rascal by Avery
Rye Beer Cheese Dip
Hop Rod Rye by Bear Republic
Nutella Beer Pudding
Milk Stout by Left Hand

Cheers to 2014 and all it has to bring! Happy New Year!

You’ve certainly done an amazing job with your blog over the past year Lilly Sue. I’ve been really impressed by recipes, too… such deliciousness, particularly that deep, dark chocolate stout cake!!! Yum. GOOD LUCK with completing your Masters, woop… you’re on the home stretch now!! I cannot wait to see what goodness you come up with as 2014 continues… many adventures ahead! xx
Thank you Laura! I do love the chocolate stout cake and plan on making more soon- so yum π Have you tried it or any beer recipes? Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting.
Love the recipe round-up. I think I want to try all of them! Congrats on being nearly finished with your degree. It’s such an exciting time. I’m actually about to head back to school to start my third (and hopefully last) career, so I’m looking forward to being in your shoes in 2 years or so!
It is a very exciting time mixed with a little stress! What is your third career choice? Thank you Katie!
My third career choice is nursing. I’ve already discovered that the schooling is just as difficult and ridiculously time consuming as all of my nurse friends told me it would be, hence my nearly dropping off the face of the blogosphere!
Ya, it is super difficult keeping up right now for me as well! Good luck!
Lily Sue I love your blog! Moving to Oregon has truly peaked my interest in beer, beer pairings and cooking with beer. We boast at least 8 micro breweries here in my little town of Corvallis and they’re all so fantastic. Our weekend tradition has become going to one of our Pubs in town for a beer and possibly elevated pub food π I’ve graduated to an IPA and even downed a few stouts that I fancy. I wish you all the best and true success in 2014. And wishing you happy travels too! Maybe a trip to Germany where you could post about German beer? π
That is awesome! Thanks so much π My friend lives in Corvallis as well. I may make a trip up there if I can so you should definitely send me some recommendations if you have time. I’m definitely going to Germany and will be blogging all about beer in my travels π
Chocolate beer cakes, yum!
They were very yum! π Thanks!
I’ve had beer cake and cookies, but love all the new ideas here, especially those crepes!
Thank you! The crepes are a favorite! I need to make them again soon π
Happy New Year! Can you make beer cheesecake so we can celebrate your Master’s :). Best!
ha ha, that seems quite appropriate! I will get on that π
Happy New Year, really looking forward to more from you in 2014. I am learning so much about beer, I love it!
Yay, I am so glad!! Thanks for constantly reading! π
Happy Happy New Year π Many thanks for educating me on the brews and even better, baking with brews.
Happy New Year Liz! Thanks for being an enthusiastic follower and reader π
You’re making me hungry!!! And thirsty!!!!
ha ha, thanks Cory! π
How Exciting to be getting your Master’s in May – Wishing You the BEST of Luck – you are in the Home Stretch!!! I am looking forward to traveling this year too:) Happy New Year!
Thank you! I am both excited and nervous to finally be graduating. Where do you plan to travel? I also want to do some “local” (in the U.S.) traveling to breweries, of course π
Finally going to Ireland – so EXCITED!!! I am looking for a new job, so other travel plans are up in the air for the next 3 to 4 months.
That is awesome! I hope to visit Ireland during my travels as well. Yay! Well good luck on your job search π
Congrats on a good year of beer drinking and delicious blogging! What type of Master’s degree are you aiming for?
I am getting a master’s of science in mechanical engineering. However, my research is in biomedical engineering and I plan on pursuing a job in that field. Thank you so much for stopping by!
I’m impressed! Only wish I’d been mathematically inclined, too, when I was in school. Good luck on your last semester! π
Thank you! π
