The First of Many

It is great when food ideas stem from the contents within your own cupboard πŸ™‚ To kick off the new year my first attempt at cooking with beer was a success! I experimented with a Tomato Chicken Chili Beer Soup.

Billy’s Chilies by Twisted Pine Brewing (Boulder, CO) has sparked so many new ideas for cooking with beer. Obvious by its name, Billy’s Chilies is infused with chili peppers. The chili aroma lures you in but don’t drink too fast, there is some heat in the finish making it perfect for spicing up things πŸ˜€

Along with Billy’s Chilies, this tasty dish had tomato soup, chicken, white beans, hominy, and other seasonings. Since I am still perfecting the dish, you’ll have to wait for the recipe! I know, I am so cruel!

Happy Friday! πŸ™‚

  3. Hey Lily Sue, I sure would love to get my hands on that very fiery looking brew, chilli vodka is a favourite so I’m thinking chilli beer could be my thing! Love the idea of the beer in your chilli, a delicious addition no doubt!

    Happy noms & cheers for 2013 πŸ™‚

    • I am not as good at just thinking of fun ideas in my head but when I see items in front of me it is easier to decide if they will be good together πŸ™‚ With my new goals in 2013 though I am trying to expand my creativity πŸ™‚

  4. Sounds good Lilly Sue, I love chillies and I love spiced up soup so this sounds like a great combination πŸ™‚

    • Liz, glad you are interested! I am holding off on describing the beer because I am going to post about the beer in about a week. But yes I do like the beer and it isn’t heavy at all πŸ™‚
