A Jeni’s Virgin

Before having Jeni’s Ice Cream I didn’t know what I was missing. The endless combinations of unique flavors make the choice difficult. Luckily, you can have many samples…I had 6 🙂

Jeni’s is an ice cream and yogurt shop that began in Ohio. It has been rated number one best ice cream in the U.S. and I would have to agree with the rating! Jeni’s is spread over Ohio with a couple locations in Tennessee. It can also be shipped to your house!

Every sample was deliciously creamy. There are many unique ingredients like cayenne pepper, goat cheese, and lavender. A special seasonal flavor (which I didn’t get to try!) is Sweet Ohio Corn with Black Raspberries.

I tasted the Salty Caramel, Brown Butter Almond Brittle, Brambleberry Crisp, Goat Cheese with Cherries, Bangkok Peanut, and Mango Lassi Frozen Yogurt. I also got to sneak a sample of the Backyard Mint from my brother 😀

The Backyard Mint was very refreshing and tasted of fresh mint. Salty Caramel and Brown Butter Almond Brittle were both very tasty and definitely satisfied the sweet tooth.

As my three scoops choice (since I had to try three!) was the Bangkok Peanut, Brambleberry Crunch and Goat Cheese with Cherries.

The Goat Cheese with Cherries was of course amazing. The goat cheese was evident in the ice cream and made it even creamier 🙂 The Brambleberry Crisp tasted like berry crisp in ice cream form. It was also very delightful.

The Bangkok Peanut was my favorite though. It was extremely different from anything I have tasted. It was spicy and left a lingering flavor in your mouth but the peanut butter counteracted the spice nicely.

If you are in Ohio it is something you must try! Also, as the company grows you may begin to see it in local specialty grocery stories 🙂

  2. Welcome to Columbus, Lilly. Having lived here for years I have to congratulate you on your ability to find the best food and drink a town has to offer–Jeni’s has some of the most unique (and yummy) ice cream I’ve ever enjoyed anywhere and Great Lakes Beer is a bit of an Ohio legend. Hope you’re staying longer though because there’s lots more hidden food gems. BTW, this blog is terrific.

    • Thank you so much for stopping by!! I am back in Colorado…I spent just under a week in Columbus but I am posting about more food and beer I tried 🙂 Luckily, my brother has lived there for a little while and his wife even longer so they showed me some great places. Jeni’s ice cream was amazing! I wish I could have more 😀

    • Hey! Coconut Bliss sounds great 🙂 I bet you would love these tasty flavors as well though 😉

Thank you for the nomination!! I will get on that as soon as possible…been busy since I was out of town for a little while 🙂
