Claymore Scotch Ale

The Claymore Scotch Ale by the Great Divide Brewing Company is currently one of my favorite beers. This beer was made in tribute to the legendary “Wee Heavy” beers of Scotland. This dark, malty brew is rich in flavor with sweet tones of caramel. Though dark in color and full-bodied it is not too heavy (more than one can be enjoyed :)) and it goes down very smoothly. The Great Divide Brewing Company is a local brewery (Colorado) that has many great beers, meaning there will be more beer reviews on them! They have many creative brews: the Samurai Rice Ale and the Hoss Rye Lager, just to name a couple. They are expanding quickly with distribution to multiple states. Due to this change I will have to add the list of states where they distribute later. Also, if you are in the Denver area they are holding a Beer and Cheese Tasting on Tuesday, April 24. Check out their website for more details.

  1. One of my faves from Great Divide! Really good stuff, I am selective from the style but theirs is right on the nose for me. To my knowledge Great Divide is available coast to coast except in WV, that is the only state so far, on the East Coast, that I visited where none of their beers is to be found.

    • Yes, this is one of my favorites as well. It is deliciously brewed! I am glad their beer is available many places πŸ™‚ I enjoy many of their beers…the Yeti for another one of their dark beers. I also like the Hoss.
